OVERVIEW
 

One of the leading causes of occupational fatalities is vehicle-related crashes. when employees are involved in traffic incidents, companies are exposed to liability risk and legal expenses, not to mention lost time, decreased productivity, and increased insurance and worker’s compensation rates. This course is designed to help reduce traffic incidents thereby minimizing death, injury, and damage.

  • Vehicle inspection 
  • Occupant protection system
  • Defensive driving techniques (light, road conditions, traffic, blind spots, stopping distance, etc)
  • Distraction to a driver (unsafe acts, sleep deficit, fatigue)
  • Aggressive driving behaviors
  • List the six most unsafe behavior
  • Describe the hazards involved with each unsafe behavior
  • List alternatives to speeding
  • How to safely approach and proceed through intersections
  • How to make safe and legal turns
  • Steps needed to make a safe pass
  • Determine the safe following distance 
  • Overtaking 
  • Head-on collisions and how to avoid 
  • Application of “What if” strategy
  • Preventable collision, good habits of defensive driving
