Overview

This qualification develops a practical understanding of environmental management that can be applied in workplaces anywhere in the world.

Learners build the knowledge needed to improve environmental performance, contribute to an Environmental Management System, and evaluate environmental aspects, impacts, and controls.

EMC1 is a scenario-based digital examination downloaded, completed, and submitted within 24 hours. EMC2 is a practical assessment of environmental aspects and impacts in the learner's chosen workplace. NEBOSH marks both units.

The qualification consists of two units and covers:

EMC1: Environmental Management

Foundations of environmental management
Environmental management systems
Assessing environmental aspects and impacts
Planning for and responding to environmental emergencies
Control of emissions to air
Control of environmental noise
Control of contamination of water sources
Control of waste and land use
Sources and use of energy, including energy efficiency

EMC2: Practical Application

Assess environmental aspects and associated impacts in a chosen workplace
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls
Apply environmental-management knowledge to workplace conditions
